PINKERY OEC, EXMOOR
Every year in September, Class 6 visit Pinkery Outdoor Education on Exmoor. During the five action-packed days the children can abseil, rock climb, read maps, do a river walk and a 10Km Exmoor walk, have a go at archery, mountain biking, pond dipping, problem solving activities and walk to Pinkery Pond and travel through the Black Hole!
There are activities in the evening also! A disco, star walk, talent contest and chill out time too! During the children’s free time they can safely play in the Pinkery stream, building dams and enjoying themselves!
Class 6 will be covering academic subjects during their stay, such as English, art, science, geography – but all the lessons are practical, inspiring and creative and just seem like great fun!!!
Most of the activities are led by experienced and fully qualified Exmoor Rangers and also members of staff - so the children are in safe hands!
Pinkery is a wonderful place as it gives our pupils 5 days of being able to develop their independence, organisation and creativity and is also a wonderful opportunity for socialising and team building.
Class 5 at Kilve Court
Every year in the Spring Term Class 5 go on a residential visit to Kilve Court. Kilve Court is an outdoor education centre situated in the Quantock village of Kilve in West Somerset. We stay for two nights and are busy during the days with exciting outdoor activities. We learn how to do abseiling, climbing and archery. We go for a walk on the Quantocks and build shelters in the woods. We visit Kilve Beach and search for fossils and look at the landscape of the rocks. In the evenings we go orienteering in the dark and play games or do quizzes. We always have a wonderful experience at Kilve Court. It is good preparation for the 4 night residential in Class 6. It is a great opportunity to do lots of learning outside the classroom and it helps to build strong friendships.
