Newsletter 24th September 2020

Dear Parents and Carers,

It seems I am writing many newsletters to you all. We are trying to ensure that we are communicating as much information to you as possible.

With the announcement from the Government of increased restrictions, it is clear that the structures we have in place will be here for most of the academic year.

I am delighted with how everything is running and you have all been so supportive and understanding with the situation we are all facing.

Our KS2 children have been going home with their KS1 siblings at 3:05. This has been fine for the first few weeks but now that is apparent that our structures will remain for many months, we have decided to keep all KS2 children at school until 3:30 so that they are not missing out on the KS2 curriculum. KS1 children with a sibling in KS2 will now be cared for until 3:30. This will start from Monday 28th September.

FROM MONDAY 28TH SEPTEMBER

KS1 (Reception, Class One and Class Two) only pick up – 3:05pm

KS2 (Class Three, Class Four, Class Five and Class Six) and KS1 siblings pick up – 3:30pm

KS2 parents must continue to not arrive at the school until approximately 3:10pm to allow for the KS1 children to pick up and collect their children safely.

Reception Parents and Pick-Up

If your KS2 child has a sibling in the Reception Class then once you have arrived you may come out of your car and collect by the gate near the Reception Class door. This can be before 3.30 but please don't arrive with the KS1 collection time. If you are a pedestrian then please also collect from the small gate near to Reception Class when you arrive. You can then go back to your cars/standing area with your Reception child on the playground to wait for your KS2 child.

Parents Evening

Parents Evening will be different this year. We cannot have parents and carers on the premises. Class teachers will be making phone calls to all parents and carers of the children in their class. We would ask you to understand that these calls will be timetabled to ensure every parent has an equal opportunity to discuss their child. We have reserved two dates. Tuesday 20th October from 4pm-6:30pm and Friday 23rd October (INSET Day) from 9am – 12:30pm. Parents and Carers will be able to book appointments nearer the time on our school website. It is essential that parents and carers ensure that they are available at the time allocated.

Wet Weather

Thank you for sending the children in with their coats this week. If the weather is drizzly we will continue to have the pedestrians lining up and child in cars with parents and carers. If we will have heavy rain, the children will be invited into school slightly earlier.

Collection Signs

The Jack and Jess collection signs have been a huge hit and lots of families have created their own signs to help with the end of the school day! Please keep using them and the bigger and bolder the lettering the easier for me to read the signs. I am not getting any younger and at times I struggle to read some J.

Reserve a Book Online!

The children can now go on to our Library Club Classroom on Google Classroom and reserve a school library book! This is an outstanding facility! Please visit the Library Club Classroom with your child/ren to reserve a book.

Christmas Cards

I realise it is quite early to mention the word ‘Christmas’ but this is to give you the heads up that  your child will be designing a Christmas card. The designs will be printed and sold to parents to raise much needed funds. Money raised from parents goes on whole school projects, the latest example being is the new library & music room situated on the field.
