A LETTER FROM HELEN MAC CONNELL (CHAIR OF GOVERNORS)

News

6th May 2020

Dear Children, Parents, Carers, Staff, Governors and our community at St George’s,

I hope you are all well and looking after your families during this very unusual time.

Even though we can’t be together Mr Braund and all the staff are doing their best to keep things as normal as possible for you. I would like to say a big thank you to them for all their hard work and all that they are doing. I would also like to say thank you to you and your families for how well you have adapted to this new way of working. It isn’t easy for any of us but I know everyone is doing their very best to work hard and look after each other.

Mr Braund and I are having regular conversations and he has been telling me about everything that is happening. I know the teachers are very busy putting work on the google classrooms and they are being well supported in this by the teaching assistants. When I look at our school website I can see lots of things to support you at home. When I pop into school once a week I see the smiley, happy children of our key workers being well looked after. Mrs Gordge is busy in the office and Mr Davies and the cleaners are busy looking after the school site. We are all keeping in touch by regular Zoom meetings to ensure that we can make this time as efficient as it can be.

I want to reassure you that the normal things haven’t stopped but we are just having to adjust to a new way of working for now. I know that everyone at St George’s Catholic School is doing their very best to help you with your learning, to look after you all and to keep in touch with everyone. I look forward to a time when we can all be together again and, once guidance comes through from the government, we will begin to put plans in place for this to happen.

In the meantime, I want you to carry on as you are by working hard and looking after each other.

With my very best wishes,

Helen Mac Connell – Chair of Governors
