Sunday 19th April

Dear Children, Parents and Carers,

I hope you are all well and staying safe and that you all managed to have a lovely Easter. The glorious weather was a help and I hope you managed some time in your gardens and some fresh air.

I was really pleased to be able to speak with so many of you during the holidays and hope that the parents I didn’t get to speak to, picked up my messages on answer phones. I very much appreciated the kind comments about the support from staff and how brilliant Google Classroom has been. It was wonderful to hear how so many families had been in touch with other families using Zoom, Facetime and by phone.

I was asked by one or two parents if I knew when the school would re-open. The answer is, I don’t. We have not received any additional information from the Government or Local Authority. I am sure that when schools do re-open, there will be tight restrictions regarding social distancing for many months. I will be posting any updates about this matter as soon we hear.

I am extremely grateful to the staff who kindly gave up their time to support at school for the key worker families during the holidays. It sounds like they were very busy with the many activities and had a very enjoyable time.

The school term starts tomorrow (Monday 20th April) and Google Classroom will open and lessons will start again from 9am.

The continued work of the NHS and key-workers is outstanding and the weekly applause throughout the country is wonderful to see. The respect and appreciation for all key workers is heart-warming and thoroughly deserved.

I was really moved by the response to Captain Tom Moore’s 100 laps  of the 25-metre loop in his garden in Marston Moretaine. He has also secured a number one spot in the music charts by dueting with Michael Ball to ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone.’ He has raised over twenty five million pounds and is planning to continue his daily 100 laps for as long as he is still doing good and raising money. What a remarkable and wonderful achievement!

Love and best wishes,

Mr Braund and all the staff and governors.
