31st January 2020
Dear Parents and Carers,
The start of the new term has been brilliant and the children came back after Christmas having had a great break and ready to go for a super Spring Term. It has certainly got colder and I would appreciate it if all children came to school with their winter coats to keep them warm during break times. Please be careful walking throughout the premises. Mr Davies does his very best to cover the main areas with grit.
Please can you ensure that items such as water bottles and clothing are named so that if they are mislaid we can return them. Can I also ask that all parents and carers check items and clothing from time to time to make sure that jumpers/water bottles etc haven’t been mixed up. We do have items go missing from time to time and it must cause a lot of frustration when the items are named and should easily be found and returned.
The importance of our school one way system was evident last week when an ambulance needed to have access to Nunsfield Court. This was achieved without any problems at all BUT would not have been able to if the one way system wasn’t being followed. I can’t thank you enough for your understanding on the importance of following our parking policy. I am still aware of one or two (and it is only one or two) who are still not paying attention of the need to stay in cars until you are safely on the premises. Staff will stay with children until parents and carers are safely parked on the playground. If parents and carers have not arrived at the school early enough to have a place on the playground, it is important that they wait in their cars. Unnecessary hold ups and congestion will happen if our parking policy isn’t followed.
Mrs Gavins is busy preparing an event to support parents and carers with maths strategies at home. Mrs Gavins will send further information out nearer the time but please save the date. It will be on Friday 27th March from 9am-10am in the School Hall.
Name the Book Competition
Thank you to all who entered our NAME THE BOOK COMPETITION. We were absolutely delighted with how many parents and carers entered and raised over £150. We have more than 10 entries with full marks. The winning entry pulled out of the hat during assembly was Mollie Thompson. Mollie won a £20 voucher for Waterstones.
Half-Term Holiday Club
Thank you to the Holiday Club who have been busy planning and preparing for the February Half-Term Holiday Club. Information was sent out earlier this week. There certainly are many fun activities planned!
Just a reminder that we have our Spring Term Parent’s Evenings on Monday 10th and Tuesday 11th February. As always, we expect 100% attendance as it is a vital opportunity to speak with class teachers on how your child is performing, behaving and making progress at St George’s.
Disco and Movie nights
Information has been sent out regarding the KS1 Disco and KS2 Movie night on Friday 7th February. Please can I ask all parents and carers to ensure that your child is promptly picked up at 5:15PM.
The KS2 Disco and KS1 Movie night will be held on Friday 13th March and details regarding this will be sent out nearer the time.
Change in Circumstances
Please can all parents and carers advise if at any time there are any changes in family circumstances, for example personal changes at home which may have an effect on your child’s well being at school, additionally change of address or telephone numbers etc. It is important that the school are updated at all times.
Change of Mass Date
Please note that the Annunciation Mass in Church is on Wednesday 25th March at 9:30AM and NOT on the 18th as originally advised.
