Dear Parents,

On Sunday we heard the Prime Minister announce that schools could begin to extend their opening to Reception, Year One and Year Six from the 1st June ‘at the earliest’.

On Monday evening we began to receive further guidance on how we can plan for this extended opening.

Over the coming days, we will be using this information to plan for this next phase of opening. As we draw our plans together and prepare to implement our risk assessments, to ensure the safety of all, we will share these with you.

We have the dual desire of wanting to get as many children back to school as soon as possible whilst at the same time ensuring the highest level of safety for all within our community.

It is evident already that we do not have the capacity at St George’s to have all the children from the Reception Class, Year One and Year Six in together at the same time. A part time return is our only option to ensure that all children and staff are kept safe.

The children of key workers will still be invited in full time but will need to be kept separated from the other classes as stated in the guidance.

There is no obligation to send your child to school and I would very much appreciate it if you could indicate whether your child will be attending school or staying at home to help with our planning.

We do intend to keep our successful google classrooms running to support your child with their education.
