Dear Parents and Carers,
You will all be aware by now that both Years Three and Six have had to return to remote learning due to a positive case in both classes. It was extremely sad to see the upset and disappointment on the faces of the children and staff. Throughout this challenging time, the ultimate priority has been the well-being of the children, staff and families.
The self-isolation of both classes is a reminder that we need to continue to do all we can to ensure that the school stays operational and that the children are able to come in.
Can I please ask that if your child has any of the standard symptoms that you book a test and contact the school and the whole family self-isolates until a negative result is received.
Tents on the school field?
There were more tents on the school field last Friday when our Year Six children enjoyed a day on the river and a sleepover at St George’s! They had a wonderful time enjoying a pizza tea, a marathon swim in the pool and a night time hot chocolate and story! The children were brilliant and loved every minute of it. A huge thank you to the Year Six staff and the Gavins family for supporting throughout and to the parents and carers that let us borrow their tents and helped to set them up and take them down!
What are our plans of Sports Day
As you are all aware, sadly we are unable to invite parents to Sports Day this year. Mr C has a wonderful plan for a Sports Morning for KS1 and Sports Afternoon for KS2. We will take many photos and put them on Mr C’s Google Classroom for you to see.
Is there a non-uniform day on Friday?
Just a reminder that we have a non-uniform day this Friday. The Fundraising Team have been absolutely brilliant in organising the Summer Raffle! The children in Years 3 and 6 will be invited to wear non-uniform on Monday 5th July. Here is a reminder of what we would like the children to bring in for the raffle:
Reception Class – soaps/candles
Class One – toys for girls
Class Two – toys for boys
Class Three – something sweet
Class Four – something savoury (crisps/crackers/nuts etc.)
Class Five – Something for mums
Class Six – Something for dads
Will there be ice lollies at St George’s on Monday 5th July?
To celebrate the 73rd birthday of the NHS, we would like the children to bring a minimum donation of 50p into school on Monday 5th July. Every child will be given an ice lolly and the profit made will be donated to Musgrove Park Hospital.
Did you know you can get free eye tests for your children at any opticians?
Due to Covid guidance, vision screening tests for Year one pupils has not been possible this year. Parents and carers have been advised to book a free eye test for their child at any opticians instead. In fact, every child is entitled to regular free NHS sight tests until the age of 16 or older, if in full-time education.
