Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well throughout these worrying times.

Firstly, I want to thank my St George’s Team for the emergency meetings we had on hearing the Prime Minister’s announcement on Monday evening and for being so prepared for Wednesday. I am extremely grateful for how committed and adaptable they are in such challenging times.

Thank you to all our parents and carers for the many kind messages of support we have received. The past months have been unprecedented times for us all and your encouragement and understanding has been very much appreciated.

Critical Workers

The Government message is for as many to stay at home as possible. The latest Government guidance states “Parents and carers who are critical workers should keep their children at home if they can.’ It is clear that more critical worker children and vulnerable children are needing places at schools throughout the country but we do need parents of critical workers to use the school only on the days they are working. We are trying to support the whole community by having the children of critical workers in and also providing online learning and support for children at home. We are also mindful that we are trying to keep numbers as low as possible in school to stop the spread of infection. The worrying news that hospitals are becoming full already emphasizes the importance of us all staying as safe as we possibly can.

Google Classroom

I am absolutely delighted to hear that so many children are online and accessing the work set by each class teacher. It is important that all children login to Google Classroom daily and complete the work. We are able to monitor the work online and will make contact with families if we are not seeing the children complete the work. Please do communicate with us if you are unsure about any of the work set.

Start of Term Mass

Monsignor Bernard will be leading a Start of Term Mass which will be live streamed on the church website on Thursday 15th January at 9:30am.

PE

On the days your child has PE, please send them to school in jogging bottoms, a top and jumper that they can wear for the whole school day.

With Best Wishes
