10th February 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

I had the absolute pleasure of supporting in Class Six on Wednesday morning and left the class bursting with pride! Primary school is a journey and seeing the behaviour for learning and attitudes of the children was wonderful. I then joined four children from Class Two and Mrs Crocker for an enjoyable read. The enthusiasm and enjoyment was evident!

Mr Lake and Mrs Gavins completed a maths learning walk on Wednesday morning and I was not surprised but very pleased with their comments on the learning and atmosphere throughout the school. Your children are an absolute credit to themselves, their families and the school.

Parents Evening Phone Calls

Just a reminder that we have Parents Evening on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th February from 4pm to 6pm. Please visit the school website to book your appointment for the class teacher to call you. The booking system will close on Sunday 13th February.

Parent Survey

Mrs Gordge kindly sent out an email to all parents on Thursday regarding the annual parent survey. We would really appreciate if all parents and carers can take the time to complete it. As ever, I am outside before and after school and you are always welcome to come and speak to me.

Chaplain’s Commissioning Service

It was really special to be back at St George’s Church on Tuesday with the children from Class 5 and Class 6 for the Chaplain’s Commissioning Service. It was a beautiful service and feel very lucky to have so many school chaplains. Thank you to Mrs McDonnell and Father Tom for organising the service and to the parents and carers for attending.

Football Team

A huge congratulations to the Year 5 and 6 children who competed in a football tournament on Monday. Mrs Buck excitedly reported that the children won three games, drew one and lost one. It was wonderful to hear how well they did and how much they enjoyed the experience.

Car Park

One of our parents smiled at me and commented ‘You won’t miss this car park will you Mr Braund?’ In truth, I will! I love being outside in the morning and after school to see the children and families. The start and end of the school day works well. It works well because parents and carers have been so supportive with our systems.

Can I remind parents of some key factors:

-          If a family relative or family friend is dropping off or picking up, please tell them about our one-way system.

-          If there is a day where you know you have to dash off, please ensure you are either on the car park playground early or find suitable parking away from the school premises and our one way system.

Can I remind parents and carers to drive slowly when near and on the school premises.

Lunch Time Supervisor

We are currently advertising for a lunch time supervisor. If you know anyone who may be interested in this role, please see Mrs Gordge at the school office.

Lost Property

I spoke with the KS2 children on Wednesday about the lost property at the school and the need to look after their belongings. Please can all clothing be labelled with a name so that lost property is easier to return.

Wishing you all a restful weekend.

Mr Braund
