Where has the first half term gone? Worryingly I heard Mr Davies humming Christmas carols in the car park earlier in the week! It is starting to get colder. Can I please ask for all children to come to school with a coat? Can I also ask that the children wear tracksuit bottoms for PE throughout the winter.
Thank you all for the support you have given this half-term – it is very much appreciated. The children have had an excellent few weeks and when we break up on Wednesday 20th October I hope you, the children and staff all have a restful break.
Covid 19 Updated Information
Whilst primary schools are unable to provide lateral flow tests, we are aware that many families are using these to check children if they have been in contact with other positive cases or if they have symptoms. Previously, these were then only valid if backed up by a positive PCR test. The change from today is that, if a child or adult tests positive on lateral flow and has symptoms, they must isolate for the full 10 days, regardless of any PCR test result. If you have any questions regarding this, please contact the school office and we will endeavour to help.
Harvest
Just a reminder of our Harvest Festivals on Tuesday 19th October. Our KS1 Harvest Festival will start at 1:45 and Key Stage Two will start at 2:30. Parents are invited to attend the services at the church. We will be having a gap between the classes and parents. With increasing Covid-19 rates It would be much appreciated if Parents and Carers were able to wear face masks. Both services will be live streamed on the St George’s Church website.
Half-Term
Just a reminder that we break up for half-term on Wednesday 20th October. Our first day back is Monday 1st November.
Sports Tournaments
It has been wonderful seeing many excited children going off to sports tournaments this week. We had children from Year 4 competing at a football tournament and children in Year 5 competing at a dodgeball tournament. They did brilliantly and both Mr C and Mrs Buck reported on how well the children performed, how smart they looked and what fantastic attitudes they all had! A huge well done!
Diocesan Adviser
We were lucky to have our first visitor from the Diocese in over two years on Thursday. Louise White spent the day with Mrs McDonnell and visited classrooms, spoke with the children, governors and myself. We really appreciated the visit, support and positive comments about the school.
School Nurse
The county school nurse team are currently visiting schools to support parents with any health related questions/worries. These sessions will be run from the school gates with a view to being visible to the parents to highlight the service.
They will offer appropriate resources and promote health topics, signposting parents to chat health services for further information.
The school nurse team will be visiting St Georges on Tuesday 16th November from 2.30-3.15pm.
Do you remember your school having a sporting star visit?
On Tuesday 9th November the school will be visited by Isabel Haigh
Isabel started gymnastics in 2004 at the age of 7. She is a 3 time British Champion, World Cup Silver Medallist, European Double Silver Medallist, and World Games Bronze Medallist.
Isabel will run a fun fitness circuit with the whole school and then deliver an inspirational assembly with powerful messages about grit, resilience and determination (and then show off a few tricks!)
The school will be asking the children to collect a very small sponsorship fee for the event (£2). This money will help the athlete to train and raise funds for her sport.
