Dear Parents and Carers,

I cannot believe we have five weeks to go of what has been a very challenging year for all. The well-being of children, staff and families will always be the main priority and you all have all played such a significant part by working with us so effectively.

I have heard about how two schools in Taunton have been affected by Covid this week and classes have had to close. It is a reminder that we must continue to be vigilant.

Will there be a Sports Day?

With the latest delay in easing lockdown restrictions, we are unable to invite parents to our school sports day. We deliberately left it until the penultimate week of term in the hope we could invite parents but this is no longer possible. We will continue to have our sports day and will ensure that the children have a wonderful time enjoying all the races we have planned.

Will there be a Year 6 Production

We have planned the Year 6 Production for Tuesday 20th July at 6pm. We hope to be able to invite parents to this event. We will ask that only two adults attend for each child to keep numbers sensible due to COVID.

Swimming at St George’s

With swimming successfully returning to St George’s, we are looking ahead to September. We will be offering Years One to Six the opportunity to swim in an After School club the weeks they are not swimming in their PE lesson, enabling them to swim every week if they wish. We are delighted with the many comments we have received and it has been wonderful to see the children enjoying their swimming. I will update you on our after school plans for September in the coming weeks.

Are we having a Summer Raffle?

After the huge success of the Christmas raffle, the fabulous Fundraising Team have organised a summer raffle!

We will be holding a non-uniform day on Friday 2nd July and would appreciate it if your child could bring in a donation in exchange for not wearing uniform that day.

As it worked so well last time we are asking if the children could bring in a donation based on the list below:

Reception Class – soaps/candles

Class One – toys for girls

Class Two – toys for boys

Class Three – something sweet

Class Four – something savoury (crisps/crackers/nuts etc.)

Class Five – Something for mums

Class Six – Something for dads

We have sent home two sets of books of raffle tickets with each child and more will be available on request. The raffle tickets will cost £1 each with the draw taking place on Friday 9th July at 2pm and all tickets (sold and unsold) will need to be back in school by Thursday 8th July.

Thank you for all your continued support with fundraising at school.

What our School Chaplains have been up to

I was so impressed with our School Chaplains who joined Chaplains from other Catholic Schools across Somerset in a virtual celebration. Our Chaplains produced a brilliant presentation of what they have achieved and spoke beautifully about their achievements at St George’s.
