21st May 2021

Dear Parents and Carers,

When are we going to get some summer weather? It certainly has been a wet and windy few days and still the St George’s children walk in full of smiles!

Have you a statue of Our Lady that you could lend to the school next Friday?

Just a reminder that on Friday 28th May, we will be celebrating Our Lady by having a Rosary Procession.

We are asking for your help in providing the flowers for our Marion Altar. Please could you send your KS2 child to school on Wednesday 27th May with a flower, or small bunch of flowers, that they can carry on our procession and lay at the altar.

If any families have a statue of Our Lady that we could borrow for the day, we would greatly appreciate this.

Have you heard about our latest sports news?

Congratulations to Mrs Olivia Ely, who has just been appointed as a Sports Assistant at the school. Olivia is a trained lifeguard, has completed a CPD training programme to teach NATIONAL curriculum swimming safely and effectively as part of a Team and has a passion for sport. Olivia will be joining the St George’s Team after May Half-Term.

Mr Chidgey will be sending out a letter early next week regarding his exciting plans for swimming after half-term. We will be following the Swim England School Swimming and Water Safety award scheme and our aim is for the children to pass and receive as many awards as possible by the time they leave St George’s. We are extremely lucky to have such a facility and we are so excited to have the children back swimming.

Is your child due to take their First Holy Communion this year?

If your child is in Year 3 or above and you would like him/her to make his/her First Holy Communion (FHC) in October of this year, please complete/type the details onto the attached First Holy Communion Application Form. In order to assist us in adding the correct details to our database for your child, please upload & email a typed form back to the Parish Office: taunton.stgeorge@cliftondiocese.com by Tuesday, 1st June 2021. Please be aware that late applications may not be accepted.

Have you remembered about the School INSET Day?

Just a reminder that we have a School INSET Day on Monday 7th June.
