Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy St George’s Day to you all! It was wonderful to have the St George’s Day Mass. The children read beautifully and were an absolute credit to the school, their families and themselves. The races this afternoon were enjoyed by all. The children had a brilliant time!
Road Works
It was a surprise to us to hear that there will be significant road works on the A38, the main road near the school, from Monday 26th April which will last for several weeks. There have been extensive conversations about this matter. Attached to the email is additional information about the system that the Council have put in place for the duration of the Road Works.
We are aware there will be an increase in the volume of traffic down the narrow road alongside the school so we will be allowing pedestrians to use the back gate by St George’s Pre-school for the duration of the roadworks. The path through the school to the front of school will be clearly marked with cones. PLEASE DO NOT STRAY FROM THIS PATH.
Will the Swimming Pool be opening soon?
We are hoping to re-open the pool for the children after May half-term. Mr Chidgey will be our new lead for swimming at the school and he will be writing to all parents and carers very soon with our exciting new plans for the pool.
We wish to thank Julie Smith for her support and contribution to the teaching of swimming at St George’s over the past few years and wish her every success for the future.
Throughout the pandemic our priority has been to ensure that the school community stays safe and well. We have not allowed external providers to use the premises during this time. All being well we hope to start this again from September.
