Dear Parents and Carers,

How nice is it to receive such a kind message?

I received a lovely text message from a former Governor and parent of St George’s this week. It read:

‘Hi Mark, I watched the lovely St George’s children making their way to the museum yesterday, all beautifully behaved. Well done Mrs Earp for keeping a tight ship!’

Such messages feel me with such pride and I raced to Class Four to read the children the message as they constantly need to hear such wonderful compliments.

Have you ever heard beautiful singing coming from St George’s?

As I was walking through our wonderful school yesterday afternoon I heard one of my favourite songs being sung by Class Two. Count On Me by Bruno Mars! The singing was beautiful and the lyrics were so true!

‘You can count on me like one two three

I'll be there

And I know when I need it I can count on you like four three two

You'll be there

'Cause that's what friends are supposed to do, oh yeah’

Will things ever return to normal?

I am currently planning on everything returning to normal in September. As we are all aware, things can change but we certainly hope that September will bring a return to what we are all used to at St George’s and all schools throughout the country.

I will be sending out a reminder nearer to the end of term with everything all families need to be aware of ready for September 2021.

How are you getting on with Beat the Streets?

A huge congratulations to all the families that have been completing the Beat the Street Challenge. All schools have been supplied with prizes to award weekly throughout the four weeks. This week Mr C excitedly reported that Zuzanna, Sophie and Poppy have all been covering many miles and have been rewarded with gift vouchers.

Have you received your Summer Raffle Tickets?

The School Fundraising Team have been brilliant once again in organising the Summer Raffle. Tickets were distributed last week and we would really appreciate it if as many tickets can be sold. Please can any unsold tickets be returned to school as soon as possible, so they can be redistributed to families who are requesting more.

Did you know the NHS will be 73 years old on Monday 5th July?

To celebrate the 73rd birthday of the NHS, we would like the children to bring a minimum donation of 50p into school on Monday 5th July. Every child will be given an ice lolly and the profit made will be donated to Musgrove Park Hospital.

Red Cross Week

Thank you to Lucy Hays for making me aware of Red Cross Week. There is a focus on ‘BEING THE BEST YOU CAN’ and Mr C will be focussing on this during his PE lessons. If parents and carers would like to make a donation to the Red Cross, the account details are:

British Red Cross bank details:
Natwest account number: 90352556
Sort code: 60-00-01

Have you read the RSE e-mail sent home to parents?

RSE lessons will be starting soon and parents have had information regarding this sent to them by email. Please read this carefully and do let your child’s class teacher know if you have any questions.

There is further information relating to RSE on our school website, along with the school’s response to our recent RSE Consultation in the Spring Term. You can find this on our school website under the information tab.

What are the plans for the summer at St George’s?

We are unable to offer summer school provision this summer. I am really keen for the staff to have some time-out and there is a good chance there will be some building work at the school.

Best Wishes

Mark Braund
