Dear Parents and Carers,

Are you aware of our breakfast club and after school club care?

Just a reminder that we operate a Breakfast Club from 7:45am until 8:50am and After School Club from 3:30pm until 5:30pm.

We have monitored bookings throughout the academic year and have decided to support the     well-being of staff and close the After School Club on a Friday at 5pm. We will of course gladly support a family in need of support and care until 5:30pm on a Friday IF required, so please do not hesitate to contact the office if this is ever the case.

Did you like the balloons and banner outside school today?

I am sure you will join the children and staff in wishing our wonderful Parish Priest, Monsignor Bernard, a very happy and special birthday! Monsignor Bernard is a huge support to us all at the school. He visits regularly and is always on hand to advise, listen and inspire the community.

Monsignor Bernard shares his birthday with our brilliant Class Four teacher, Mrs Earp.

Have a lovely day Monsignor Bernard and Mrs Earp.

Did you know we have a new computer technician?

We are absolutely delighted in our recent appointment of a computer technician at St George’s.   Neil White will be joining the team after Easter. Neil spent the day with us on Wednesday and was really impressed with the behaviour of the children.

Are you aware that our classes are still in bubbles?

Since September, our children have remained in Class Bubbles and have socially distanced themselves from other classes in school and on the playgrounds. This has taken a lot of thought and organisation. We have kept school staff in specific bubbles where we can to ensure that everyone is as safe as possible.

Covid cases have reduced but schools continue to have positive cases. I know of two primary schools that have had to close class bubbles in the past few days. It is a reminder to us all that we still need to continue to do all that we can to ensure that we keep classes open.

The opening of outside school clubs is great news for the well-being of children. It does cause for some concern that children are mixing with children from other schools and this could be difficult to track all possible contacts if there are positive cases.

What is the process for reporting a positive Covid case to school over the Easter holidays?

We are still responsible for recording and informing you of any positive cases which may impact your Easter break, up to Wednesday 7th April.

With this in mind, we have set up a contact email which will be checked regularly until Wednesday 7th April. The email address is covidsupport@stgeorgestaunton.school. Please use this to inform us if you, your child or someone who lives in your household, has tested positive for Covid-19.

We will then alert the appropriate authorities and provide anyone who has been in close contact with advice. Please ensure you have your mobile phone with you in case we need to contact you.

We hope that this will just be a precautionary measure and that you all have a restful and Happy Easter.

Kind regards

Mark Braund
