Dear Parents and Carers,

This Week in School

What a busy week – it has flown by. This week’s Aquathlon was a great success. The children were great sports and the staff were so impressed with the determination and enthusiasm they showed. Well done to all who took part and we are very grateful to the sports team and parent volunteers for making it what it was. It is another reminder of how lucky we are with such brilliant facilities on the school grounds, such hardworking staff members and a fantastic school community willing to step in and support.

The children also took part in a school election on Thursday. The staff thought it would be a great opportunity for pupil’s to experience democracy in all its glory with a vote related to the upcoming Queen’s Jubilee. The dilemma: should we have a fancy dress parade or hire a bouncy castle for the day? It was a landslide result, with 147 children jumping to the conclusion that bouncing around is more fun than dressing up! Thank you to Mr Lake for organising the election, and to Mrs Gavins and the Year 6 children for counting the ballots.

Sports days

Please add the following dates to your diary. We would love parents to attend and cheer the children on.

KS2 Sports Day – Monday 20th June - 1.45pm to 3.15pm

KS1 Sports Day – Thursday 23rd June - 1.45pm to 3.15pm

Sun cream

The good weather is upon us and looks set to continue. Please can you ensure you child comes to school with sun cream applied, a sun hat and a water bottle. You may send sun cream in their bookbags for them to reapply at lunchtimes. Roll-ons are very easy for younger children to apply themselves and are less messy! Thank you for your support with this.

SATS

Good luck to our Year 6 pupils, who are starting their SATs tests on Monday. Our Golden Rule is, ‘Work hard and try your best.’ You do this every single day, and we are so proud of you. Remember to believe in yourself – you have achieved so much in your time at this school and we see you for the wonderful, creative, caring and enthusiastic people you are. This weekend, spend time with your families, enjoy the sunshine and do the things that make you happy. Get some fresh air, play games, and have fun. You have already put the hard work and effort in, so you can enjoy the weekend, knowing you have done enough.

Drop offs

We have added a new bell to sound at 8.50am, when classrooms open. Please wait on the playground by the pool with your child/children until the 8.50am bells rings. Please do not send children to their classes before this, as there will be no staff members present and they will be unsupervised. The gates to the playground are locked just after 9am, so please try to ensure you have dropped off well before this time.

Best wishes,

Edwina McDonnell
