15th December 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

This Week in School

It has been a very fun and festive week at St George’s, with a joyous Carol Concert held at St George’s Church on Wednesday, and a cheery Christmas Lunch on Thursday. The staff and children wore their Christmas jumpers, and the school was so merry and bright. Also on Thursday, our school Chaplains made and sold some beautiful Christmas decorations and raised £75 for charity. What a wonderful achievement and a reminder that amongst all the fun and festivities, as Christians we are called to share what we have and support those who have less.

We were also very lucky to receive a very special visitor to our Golden Book Assembly on Friday morning. Father Christmas dropped by to draw the winners of our annual Christmas Hamper Raffle, and the children and staff were full of Christmas joy to see him.

Thank you to all the staff, pupils and volunteers who have played a part in making St George’s such a happy place to be this term.

This includes our very own Ola (Year 6) and David (Year 4) who supported Mr Lake this half-term in painting our new Buddy Bench! Mr Lake is so grateful for their help with this worthy project.

Christmas Hamper Raffle 2023

Thank you to our Parent Support Group for their time and effort in organising this year’s Christmas Hamper prizes. The winners have been drawn and the school office have been busy contacting families to inform them of their good fortune. Do remember to collect your hamper from the school Office by close of business on Tuesday. And a big thank you to our wonderful school community for all your support this term with our fundraising initiatives!

Christmas Parties

The children will be having little class parties next week to celebrate Christmas and teachers will have sent information directly to parents. Please could Reception Class, Year 1 and Year 2 children note that their party is on Monday 18th and remember to bring a bag of party clothes and anything else suggested by the class teachers.

Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 are having their parties on Tuesday 19th and could they remember to bring their party clothes in a bag, and anything else suggested by their class teachers. Thank you.

Lost and Found

We will be arranging to have a table out on the school playground with all the lost property after school on Monday and Tuesday, Please can I ask all parents and carers to check over the weekend  that they are not missing any of theire childrens items.

Amenities/Swimming Contributions

Please can I remind all parents and carers that each year, we ask for a voluntary contribution of

£10 per term per child for swimming, and £10 per term for each family for School Amenities.

The school has always traditionally asked parents and carers for an amenity contribution. The Amenities Fund allows the school to give children extra opportunities and experiences such as visiting artists, performers, and sport companies. We feel it is crucial that the children continue to have these WOW moments and with the rising costs of funding school everts and maintaining and running the swimming pool, we would really appreciate your contribution to allow this to continue.

Payments for Swimming and Amenities can be paid online, details are as follows:

Bank Account Number: 02887152 Sort-Code: 30-98-45

Please quote reference S for Swimming and A for Amenities

Best wishes,

Edwina McDonnell
