Dear Parents and Carers,
Year 6 Parents – Secondary School Applications
Please visit our school website for essential information related to the secondary school application for your child. https://www.st-georges-somerset.org.uk/web/secondary_school_application/713976
The deadline for applications is 31st October 2025.
After School CLub
We would like to remind parents of our end of day protocol in relation to children who have not been collected on time. The school day finishes at 3.30pm, when children are available for collection from the playground or, for our youngest pupils in Reception and Year 1, from their classrooms. Teachers wait with the children until the lane has cleared. This is so we are sure that no parents are still waiting in the queue to collect their child. When the lane has completely cleared, any remaining children whose parents are yet to arrive are taken to the after school club.
Once the children have been checked into after school club, a charge will apply. The staff in the after school club use an automated system and cannot cancel this charge.
Thank you for your understanding with this.
Notifying School Office on Alternative Collection Arrangements
We would like to remind parents and carers of the importance of notifying the school office of any changes to the collection arrangements for pupils. As you can imagine, the end of the school day is a busy period and delays arise when the teachers have to hold children back because they are unaware that an alternative arrangement has been made for collection. Having the information ahead of time helps us in our duty to safeguard the children and also avoids unnecessary delays when the school office has to phone home to check the arrangements.
In addition, for Reception Class pupils, Mrs Goode requires alternative adults collecting pupils to inform her of the password for that child. Thank you for your understanding with this.
Understand Phonics for EYFS/Reception Class Parents
A Phonics Workshop will take place on Thursday, 2nd October at 2.40pm for our Reception Class parents. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of how you can support your child at home with reading, so we encourage as many of you as possible to attend.
The workshop will be held in the main school Hall. Please park on site in the usual way and come to the school entrance/foyer to attend.
Save the Date!
Parent Support Group - Cheese and Wine Evening
Join us for a relaxed and enjoyable Cheese and Wine Night hosted by the Parent Support Group (PSG) on Wednesday, 16th October, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm in the School Hall.
This is a wonderful opportunity for parents to connect, share ideas, and explore ways we can support our school community together. Enjoy a selection of wines and cheeses while getting to know fellow parents and learning more about how you can get involved with the PSG.
Wine and cheese will be provided.
This is a ticketed event with limited spaces available. Please click here to secure your free ticket now.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Best wishes,
