Year 2 is an important and exciting year, where children grow in confidence, independence and responsibility as learners. Building on the strong foundations from Key Stage 1, pupils are encouraged to develop their reading, writing and mathematical skills while continuing to enjoy a broad, engaging curriculum.
In Year 2, children are supported to become more independent in their learning, to share ideas confidently and to take pride in their work. Learning is carefully structured and purposeful, with high expectations alongside nurture and encouragement. By the end of the year, pupils are well prepared for the transition into Key Stage 2, both academically and emotionally.
