Dear Parents and Carers,

Class Trips

Another sunny week has passed, and we have had another successful residential trip for our pupils. Last week, Year 6 had an amazing two nights away, getting wild and camping out in the woods. It was a fantastic experience for our oldest pupils and a lovely way for them to experience a little adventure and independence in a safe environment.

This week, our Year 4 pupils spent a night away in Exmoor at the Pinkery Centre for Outdoor Learning. Mrs Potter reported that the children had a fantastic time. The Bog Walk was a real highlight, and the children enjoyed the orienteering session that followed this. They kept themselves busy after tea with an energetic disco and a quiz, before settling down to a story and bedtime. It sounds like the children will sleep well tonight after a very full itinerary of activities!

There have also been some day trips out for pupils in other classes. Year 1 went to Minehead beach last week and had a thrilling experience on the steam train. Year 2 went to Bristol today to see the historic SS Great Britain ship and to partake in some exciting workshops. And Year 6 went to a sports festival at Bishop Fox’s this morning. Thankfully, the staff and pupils have had great weather for these trips. What a blessing!

As a headteacher, I feel very lucky to have such a hands-on staff team who are passionate about making learning fun and providing enriching experiences to help the children learn and grow. I’m sure you will all join me in thanking the wonderful adults who have planned and supervised these rich and exciting experiences for our pupils.

Calendar Dates

Please take a moment to review our school calendar for the academic year 2025-26 (attached) so that you are aware of the school INSET days and holidays. This should help families to plan ahead, ensuring any breaks they would like to take fall during the holidays and not in term-time. Thank you in advance for your support with this.

Best wishes,

Edwina McDonnell

Headteacher
