Cross Country Participants A wonderful group of pupils from Years 3 and 4, and an enthusiastic Year 2 pupil, took part in a local Cross Country tournament on Monday. Mrs Crocker was immensely impressed by the effort and determination displayed by each and every child and complimented them on how well they represented our school. Well done to all involved, and a big thank you goes to Mrs Crocker and the kind parents who transported the children to the event.

Spaghetti Bolognese Superstars The pupils in Year 5 made a tantalisingly tasty Spag Bol from scratch this afternoon, with a lovely addition of wholesome guacamole on the side. Highlights include being very tidy chefs who created little to no mess, with the main lowlight being cutting the onions which caused a few tears! Congratulations to our budding team of culinary aficionados…you’ve impressed us all!

World Cultural Day - Thursday 21st May
On Thursday 21st May, we will be celebrating World Cultural Day to recognise and celebrate the diversity of our school community.
Pupils will take part in a range of activities in class, and we warmly invite children to wear clothing that reflects their culture, heritage or interests. This may include traditional dress, the colours of a country’s flag, or other meaningful items.
We would also love to welcome contributions from parents and carers, such as sharing a dance, a few words in a home language, or information about a home country. If you would like to be involved, please contact your child’s teacher.
Thank you for your support.
Safeguarding at St George’s
Safeguarding underpins all aspects of our work at St George’s. We work hard to ensure that every child feels safe, valued and well supported, and we want our families to feel confident in the measures we have in place. We invite all parents and carers to visit the safeguarding section of our website, where you can find our policies, key contacts and useful guidance. If you ever have a concern or need advice, please don’t hesitate to contact us — we are always here to help. Thank you for working in partnership with us to keep all children in our care safe.
Reception Class (EYFS) and Year 6 Class photos
These will take place on Friday 15th May. Both classes will have a whole class photo. Year 6 pupils will have individual leaver’s photos taken as well. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing tidy school uniform and ready to shine in their photo!
Changes to Swimming/PE in the coming weeks
We were all so excited after the arrival of baby Reuben Nicholas Chidgey last Friday. Weighing in at a healthy 7 pounds and 9 ounces, he is a most treasured addition to the Chidgey family and to our St George’s community and we are told he is doing very well. Congratulations on baby number two for Mr and Mrs Chidgey!
Mr C will continue his paternity leave next week. Therefore, we continue our changes to the sporting timetable to ensure things run smoothly in his absence. Please note the following:
Mon 4th May (Bank Holiday) and Mon 11th May: PE as normal for Years 1,4 and 6.
Tues 5th May: All children will swim in Years 1, 2, 5 and 6. Please bring swimming kits.
Wed 6th May: All children will swim in EYFS and Years 3 and 4. Please bring swimming kits.
Thurs 7th May: PE as normal for EYFS and Years 2, 3 and 5.
After this, it is intended that PE and Swimming will return to normal, with Stingrays swimming on the week commencing Monday 11th May. Thank you for your assistance in ensuring your child has the correct kit.
