26th June 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
This Week’s Weather
Thank you to our parents and carers for their support and understanding during this week's school closure, due to the exceptional heat. We appreciate the flexibility shown by families, and the many kind messages of support received.
While temperatures are expected to be lower next week, it will still be warm, and the school building may retain heat from the recent hot weather. To help keep children comfortable, parents may choose to send their child to school in either summer uniform or the school PE kit. We ask that children do not wear their own clothes and return to wearing school shoes or trainers, as these are safer options with physical activity resuming.
Please continue to ensure your child brings a named water bottle, wears a sun hat for outdoor activities and has sun cream applied before school, as we will continue to take sensible precautions to keep everyone safe in the warmer weather.
Post Script:
Since writing the message above, classroom temperatures continued to rise throughout Friday morning, with every classroom reaching or exceeding 30°C by lunchtime and some reaching 35°C, despite the anticipated drop in outside temperatures. Having carefully monitored the well-being of pupils throughout the day, we took the decision to offer parents the opportunity to collect their children early. Thank you once again for your patience, understanding and support as we responded to these exceptional circumstances with the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff as our overriding priority.
The Ashes? More Like the Splashes!
With temperatures soaring this week, an afternoon of cricket in the blazing sunshine wasn't high on anyone's wish list. Thankfully, Mr Hughes had a better idea. Armed with a little creativity and plenty of swimming trunks, our after-school cricketers swapped the pitch for the pool and enjoyed a fantastic game of cricket with a watery twist!
Not dis-similarly, Mrs Farthing took her well-being club participants to the pool side to splash their legs in the water to cool down a little on Tuesday lunchtime.
Our children are incredibly fortunate to have staff who bring such enthusiasm, imagination and fun to school life. It's these unexpected moments that create lasting memories.

Amenities and Swimming
Please can we remind parents that have yet to pay, that this term’s contribution for your child’s swimming lessons - £10 per term per child, is due. Can we also remind you that the amenities contribution of £10 is due. This allows us to fund our exciting extracurricular events such as theatre companies, performers and visiting artists.
