8th May 2026
Dear Parents and Carers,
KS2 SATs
We would like to wish all our Year 6 pupils the very best of luck as they begin their SATs tests on Monday.
At St George’s, our Golden Rule is: ‘Work hard and try your best.’ Our Year 6 children live this out every single day and we are incredibly proud of the resilience, determination and positivity they have shown throughout the year. These tests are just one small part of their journey, and we have loved watching them grow not only as learners, but also as kind, thoughtful and confident young people.
To all our Year 6 pupils: trust yourselves and remember just how much you have achieved already. Your teachers and families see far more than test results — we see your creativity, your kindness, your humour, your courage and the wonderful way you support one another each day. Those things matter enormously and cannot be measured on a test paper.
This weekend, take time to relax, enjoy being with your family and friends, get outside in the sunshine and do the things you love. You have worked incredibly hard and should feel proud of everything you have already accomplished.
We believe in you all and cannot wait to see you shine next week.
World Cultural Day - Thursday 21st May
On Thursday 21st May, we will be celebrating World Cultural Day to recognise and celebrate the diversity of our school community.
Pupils will take part in a range of activities in class, and we warmly invite children to wear clothing that reflects their culture, heritage or interests. This may include traditional dress, the colours of a country’s flag, or other meaningful items.
We would also love to welcome contributions from parents and carers, such as sharing a dance, a few words in a home language, or information about a home country. If you would like to be involved, please contact your child’s teacher.
Thank you for your support.
Behaviour at St George’s
We are incredibly proud of our pupils here at St George’s. Visitors regularly comment on the warm relationships between staff and pupils, the kindness shown within our community, and the purposeful atmosphere around the school.
Our behaviour expectations are rooted in our school values and are designed to ensure every child feels happy, supported and ready to learn. We believe that excellent behaviour is built through consistency, strong relationships and clear boundaries, alongside high levels of care and support for all pupils.
To help parents and carers understand our approach and the values that underpin it, please follow the link below to view our Relationships and Behaviour Policy on the school’s website. This outlines the routines, expectations and support systems that help us maintain a positive learning environment where all children can thrive.
As a staff team, we are pleased to work alongside our parents and carers to provide a supportive environment in which every child can flourish, and we thank you for your continued support in helping us uphold the high standards we value so greatly at St George’s.
Marian Mass at Church – Sunday 18th May
You are all warmly invited to our ‘family Mass’ on Sunday 17th May at St George’s Church, at 9.15am. This will be a Marian themed Mass in celebration of Our Lady, and the choir will lead the hymns. If your child would like to take part, there is a limited number of reading parts available. Volunteers must commit to practicing their part so that they are confident to stand up in front of the congregation and read with confidence. Please do ask your child to let Mrs McDonnell or Mrs Earp know on Monday if they are interested. Alternatively, you can contact the school office (office@stgeorgestaunton.uk) to pass this information along. I will send letters home with the children who have expressed an interest, for parents to sign and agree that they are available to attend the Mass, arriving just before 9am so we can prepare. Many thanks in advance for your support with this.
Reception Class (EYFS) and Year 6 Class photos
A final reminder that these will take place on Friday 15th May. Both classes will have a whole class photo. Year 6 pupils will have individual leaver’s photos taken as well. Please ensure your child comes to school wearing tidy school uniform and ready to shine in their photo!
Safeguarding at St George’s
Safeguarding underpins all aspects of our work at St George’s. We work hard to ensure that every child feels safe, valued and well supported, and we want our families to feel confident in the measures we have in place. We invite all parents and carers to visit the safeguarding section of our website, where you can find our policies, key contacts and useful guidance. If you ever have a concern or need advice, please don’t hesitate to contact us — we are always here to help. Thank you for working in partnership with us to keep all children in our care safe.
