Nunsfield Court

We have had a call from a visitor to Nunsfield Court this week. The caller wanted to feed back that she had been approached by several parents from our school telling her she was going the wrong way as she left Nunsfield and travelled up the lane. However in this case, the caller had just ended a visit with her elderly father who is unwell, and was on her way to Musgrove for a chemotherapy treatment.

I do appreciate and am very grateful for the support from parents in encouraging the one way system to be used. It really helps things to run smoothly.

Alongside the school community’s use of the lane, residents and visitors of Nunsfield use it too. The lane is also used by visitors to the Church. Therefore, occasionally you will see these people driving in what appears to be the wrong direction, but in actual fact they are just leaving Nunsfield or the Church. Please can we, as a school community, be aware of these users of the lane. Thank you.

A Message Regarding Sweet Treats on Children’s Birthdays

We would like to reassure parents that there is no obligation to bring in sweet treats for the whole class on your child’s birthday. We wouldn’t like families to feel under any pressure to do so, as we know that the cost of living has risen dramatically and not everyone is in a position to do this. Therefore, we would ask that if you do choose to send something in, to follow these guidelines:

  • Small individually wrapped items, like haribo mini packs, may be provided. These will be sent home in bookbags as an afterschool treat.
  • Please do not send in a cake. As you will understand, our staff are very busy ensuring the children receive the support they need in their learning, and therefore are unable to cut up and hand out cake.
  • Please do not send party bags. For reasons mentioned above, we do not want parents or children to feel under pressure to ‘keep up’ as we know that being unable to can make children feel very sad.

We know you will understand that we want St George’s to be as inclusive a place as possible, and we are so grateful for your support in this.

Understand Phonics for EYFS/Reception Class Parents

A Phonics Workshop will take place on Thursday, 2nd October at 2.40pm for our Reception Class parents. This is an excellent opportunity to develop your knowledge and understanding of how you can support your child at home with reading, so we encourage as many of you as possible to attend.

The workshop will be held in the main school Hall. Please park on site in the usual way and come to the school entrance/foyer to attend.
