Newsletter 6th June 2025

6th June 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Sports Days

We are looking forward to our KS1 and KS2 Sports Days next week, and keeping our fingers crossed for good weather! It is currently looking favourable, and we would remind you to check the forecast and if sun is predicted, to ensure sun cream is applied thoroughly and sun hats are worn on both days. This is because the children will be out in the sunshine as participants and as spectators across both events. We look forward to welcoming parents to these events, and won’t judge you if you are warming up already for the parent races!

School Art Exhibition

You are invited to our school Art Exhibition on Monday 9th June. This will take place in the main school hall, where Mrs Crocker, our Art Lead, has organised for a display of the children’s art work to be shown. This will be open from 3pm onwards, or as soon as the KS2 Sports Day has finished. Parents are encouraged to come and enjoy our talented pupils’ creations, and are welcome to bring their child around the exhibition as well. All children will also visit the exhibition with their class while it is on show. We hope to see you there.

Parking on Monday 9th June

Please can we encourage you to walk, scoot or cycle to school, or to park off-site on the afternoon of Monday 9th June if possible? We are holding an art exhibition alongside our KS2 Sports afternoon, and it is likely that this may cause delays or interruptions to the end of day pick up routine. Coming to school on foot, or parking off site, will ensure that you are not caught up in this or experience the frustrations that inevitably in these circumstances. Thank you in advance for your support with this.

Year 6 Assembly

On Wednesday 11th June, Year 6 will be having their class assembly. This will take place in the main School Hall at 3pm and is sure to be a wonderful event. We hope that our Year 6 parents can join us.

Teaspoon Amnesty!

We have noticed that most of our teaspoons in the dinner hall have disappeared. We appreciate you might wonder why we are mentioning this in the newsletter! We are aware that on occasion, children with packed lunches will bring a yoghurt but forget to bring a spoon from home. When this happens, we of course allow the children to borrow a school spoon. However, these are not always returned and over time, our supplies have dwindled. Could we trouble you to check your cutlery drawers at home to see if there are any school spoons that have mistakenly made their way into them? If these could be returned, we would be most grateful. Just ask your child to pop them into the spoon tray at lunchtime. Thank you in advance for your support with this.

Road Safety and Transition to Secondary School

The THINK!  ‘Safe Adventures’ campaign aims to help parents across the country prepare their children for independent travel when they move to secondary school. Road casualty data shows that the number of child pedestrian casualties’ doubles between the ages of 9 and 11, with incidents more likely to happen during drop-off and pick up times. This article explains more: ‘Safe Adventures’ supporting children as they move to secondary school – THINK!

Mufti Day – Rainbow Raffle

Thank you for the generous donations given by our school community towards our Rainbow Raffle, in exchange for our school mufti day. If you have forgotten to send in your donation, do not despair! We are still collecting these and further donations can be handed into the school office or your child’s class teacher. Thank you again for your continued generosity and support.

Best wishes,

Edwina McDonnell

Headteacher
