Dear Parents and Carers,
Sports Days
This week we enjoyed two fantastic Sports Days, with KS2 children taking part on Monday and KS1 children participating on Thursday. It was great to see so many parents and family members attending to support the children and helping to create such a positive atmosphere. The parent races were a highlight as always and the children enjoyed the fun and excitement this added to the event.
The staff team agreed that our pupils were a credit to St George's throughout both events. They competed enthusiastically, encouraged one another and demonstrated excellent behaviour at all times. Whether winning a race or cheering on their classmates, they showed the sportsmanship and team spirit that we value so highly.
A very special thank you must go to Mr Chidgey, who organised and delivered both Sports Days so successfully. Events like this take a lot of preparation behind the scenes and his hard work ensured that everything ran smoothly from start to finish. Mr Chidgey was also ably supported by our Year 6 pupils, who helped with scoring, equipment, organisation and supporting the younger children throughout the events. They carried out their responsibilities with maturity and enthusiasm and I’m sure we can all agree they were excellent role models for our younger pupils.
I’m sure you will join me in thanking Mr Chidgey and our Year 6 team for helping to make both Sports Days such enjoyable and memorable occasions for our children.
We have lots of photos of the event and we will share these on the Google Drive next week. Watch this space!
GOLD!!!
On behalf of our very talented swimmers, we are delighted to share this photo of our KS2 pupils who participated in and won the recent swimming tournament they attended. This is a fantastic achievement and is to be highly commended. Well done to our swimming superstars – we are all very proud of you!! And thank you, once again, to Mr C for the wonderful opportunities he provides our pupils to attend these local events, giving our pupils an opportunity to shine.
Upcoming Dates

Amenities and Swimming
Please can we remind parents that have yet to pay, that this term’s contribution for your child’s swimming lessons - £10 per term per child, is due. Can we also remind you that the amenities contribution of £10 is due. This allows us to fund our exciting extracurricular events such as theatre companies, performers and visiting artists. This should be paid to the school bank account, ending in 7152. Please quote reference ‘S’ for Swimming and ‘A’ for Amenities. Please contact the school office if you have any queries about this.
A Message from the School Office Team
We would like to remind parents and carers of the importance of notifying the school office if your child is unable to attend school due to illness. Please contact the school office as soon as possible on 01823 284130 or email office@stgeorgestaunton.uk, stating your child's name, class and the reason for their absence.
Thank you for your cooperation and support in helping us maintain accurate attendance records.
Summer Fete 2026 – Friday 3rd July
We are looking forward to our Summer Fete on Friday 3rd July after school. A huge thank you to our wonderful PSG and parent volunteers who have been working hard behind the scenes to organise this special event for our children and families.
We would also like to thank all families for their generosity in supporting today's non-uniform day. The donations received will be used for the tombola and your kindness will help make the fete an even greater success. As always, we are grateful for your community spirit.
Uniform - Please continue to bring in second hand uniform to the office.
St George's Creations - We are very excited to see the St George's Creations on sale at the summer fete. Please bring in your child's creation to school labelled with their name and class from next Monday 22nd until the day of the fete.
Meeting - Thank you to all the wonderful parents and carers who have volunteered to help out. There will be a meeting on Thursday 25th June from 2.45 to 3.30 in the Busy Room to finalise matters. If you have not yet signed up but would like to help out during the fete, please get in touch with Kate (07796618933) or come along on Thursday. If you have said that you are able to volunteer and are unable to attend, please get in touch with Kate (07796618933) and she will be happy to update you.
Hot Weather
We are due a spell of very hot weather next week. Please ensure your child comes to school with a water bottle and sun hat and wearing sun cream. We have used the funds our fantastic PSG raised earlier this year to purchase some new canopies for the field to provide shade. Thank you to the whole St George’s community for your generosity this year, which has kindly allowed us to make these essential purchases from which the pupils will benefit.
Have a lovely weekend and enjoy the fine weather.
