St George’s Day Mass & Races

It has been a busy start to the new Term, and we kicked off our first day back after the Easter holidays with a visit to the Church to celebrate St George’s Day with members of the parish at the St George’s Day Mass. It always feels particularly special for our pupils to attend the Mass in honour of our Church and our school’s patron saint. Fr Tom gave an inspiring and thought-provoking Homily, encouraging us all to consider how we can, like St George, be closer to Jesus in our actions.

The behaviour of the children was excellent and I was particularly impressed with our younger children, who participated in the Mass with reverence and enthusiasm.

We ended the week with our annual St Geore’s Day Races, and I am pleased to report we had wonderful weather for it. Many a princess was saved and dragon slain, and as always, the occasion finished with an ice lolly for every child. A particular thank you goes to Mr Hughes for organising the event. It has been a positive start to the term with credit going to the staff and children for their enthusiasm and hard work in making our school a happy place.

VE Day

VE Day takes place on Thursday, 8th May and we will celebrate by having a special whole-school assembly, followed by a school picnic on the field. We will be asking children to bring a packed lunch for this event. Please do not order a hot meal for this day, and if you have already done so, this will be cancelled and the cost refunded. However, if you would like Bishops Fox’s to provide a packed lunch for your child, then please contact the school office by Friday 2nd May.
