20th March 2026

Dear Parents and Carers,

Meningitis Guidance

You may have seen recent news reports about a meningitis outbreak in Kent. NHS England and Somerset Council have been in touch and encouraged us to reassure parents that there is no increased risk outside of this specific outbreak, and no new or additional national guidance has been issued. This means there is no need for school or families to take any action beyond normal good practice. As always, we encourage families to ensure routine vaccinations are up to date and to be aware of the signs and symptoms of meningitis. If a case were ever suspected in school, we would work closely with health professionals and contact parents directly with clear guidance.

 Chaplaincy Commissioning

Thank you to Miss Droba, who organised a wonderful Commissioning Service for the Year 5 members of our Chaplaincy Team to initiate them formally into their role on Thursday this week. Fr David presided over the event, and it was a lovely celebration of the dedication our Chaplains show in serving their school community. At the service, our existing Chaplains attended and renewed their vows to support their peers to grow in spirit, and to be a friend to those who feel alone and to show, by their actions, what it means to love God. It was a very special service, and we were so pleased that a number of parents were able to join us for the occasion.

Red Nose Day

Thank you to everyone who supported our Red Nose Day fundraising this year. We are delighted to share that we raised an impressive £170.31 — with our annual mufti day., the children had great fun “wearing red” and helping to turn the school red for the day. We are very proud of their enthusiasm and generosity in supporting such an important cause.

Do you ‘Love Musgrove’?

We are delighted to support one of our parents, Jonathan Jorge, who — alongside two friends — is taking on the incredible challenge of cycling from London to Paris this July to raise funds for Love Musgrove, the official charity of Musgrove Park Hospital. This fantastic charity supports vital improvements to patient care across our local hospital, making a real difference to thousands of families. Jonathan and his team are working hard towards an ambitious £6,000 target and would greatly appreciate any support from our school community. Please see the flyer attached to this email for more information, including how to donate via JustGiving. We hope you will consider supporting Jonathan, dad of Jack (Year 6) and Isabela (Year 4), in reaching his target donation to this wonderful charity.

Stations of the Cross

A Stations of the Cross Service will take place in the main school Hall on Wednesday 1st April at 9.30am.

This year, our Year 2 – Year 6 pupils will be enacting the stations at our annual Stations of the Cross service.

We warmly invite parents and carers of these classes to attend.

Our EYFS and Year 1 pupils will be attending the Church to visit the stations and complete a simple procession. We are delighted to invite our EYFS and Year 1 parents and carers to attend this service. We feel it is more interactive and appropriate to the children’s understanding. Please look out for further information from the class teachers on this invitation.
