Dear Parents and Carers,

This Week in School

St George’s is such a happy place in general, but there is something about this glorious sunshine that adds something ‘extra special’ to the place. We enjoyed an uplifting Mass for Ascension Day, led by Fr Rajesh on Thursday morning, and the staff were really impressed by the children’s behaviour as always. On Friday, Reception Class had a successful trip to Bishop Fox’s Secondary School to attend a sports festival. After their energetic run around, it will be no surprise if they sleep soundly tonight! Class 5 also went to Queen’s to watch a dramatic production of ‘Mary Poppins’. Mrs Rolf was so pleased on her return, as not only was the performance thoroughly enjoyable, but the Queen’s staff commented very positively on the behaviour and manners of the Year 5 children. It is such a blessing for our pupils to receive invitations from our local schools to attend such exciting events and we are very grateful for the privilege.

Family Mass

Our ‘family Mass’ took place on Sunday last week and was such a joyous celebration of both Mary, the Mother of Jesus, and of our wonderful pupils who sang and read beautifully and confidently. Thank you to all who attended and to all involved in organising it – their hard work is much appreciated.

Summer Fete

The Summer Fete will be held this year on Friday 14th July. It was an amazing success last year and could only be described as a show-stopper event. We are hoping that some of our wonderful school community will get involved again this year to raise money for St George’s.

Hayden’s Mum (Laura) is organising a meeting on Friday, 26th May at 2.45pm in the Busy Room. All are welcome and we would be so grateful for your support.

Newsletters

We regularly see grandparents at morning drop off and afternoon collection and it occurred to us that they may have an interest in reading the school newsletter to keep up to date with school events, information and opportunities to volunteer. If this is the case for a relative of yours, please let them know that our school newsletters are published every week on our website and can be found at the following address: https://www.st-georges-somerset.org.uk/web/news/

Best wishes,

Edwina McDonnell
