6th October 2023

Dear Parents and Carers,

This Week in School

The children have been working hard this week and enjoying the unseasonably warm weather.

On Friday, we had a successful Health and Safety Audit, when a Health and Safety Officer from Somerset Council joined us to review our processes and procedures. The visit went very well, and we were delighted to be told that the auditor was impressed with how things are going. We have a few small action points to work on, and these will be completed in the coming weeks. It was reassuring to have an expert check on our progress and we are pleased that the visit went so well.

Harvest Mass in Church, Sunday 15th October at 9.15am– Readers Needed

On Sunday 15th October, children from our school will help to lead a Harvest Mass at St George’s Church. This mass will start at 9.15am. We are asking that members of the choir are present to add their lovely voices to the occasion. In addition, all KS2 children who have expressed an interest in reading at the Mass have been given permission slips to return. Once I have had these returned, I will send home a copy of each child’s reading to practice at home. Readers will need to be available on the day and arrive at Church early, at 9.00am, so we can prepare.

Parent’s Evening

A reminder that the booking system to book your child’s upcoming parent teacher meeting opened at 7pm on Tuesday, 3rd October. If you have any trouble logging into the school website portal, or have forgotten your login details, please contact the school office at your earliest opportunity.

We are very pleased to offer these Parent’s Evening appointments so that your child’s teacher can inform you of how they have settled into their new class. Please be aware that these are short appointments, and the time slots must be strictly adhered to. We would ask that if you know you have an issue to discuss with your child’s teacher that will cause the appointment to run over, that you speak to the teacher in advance of this meeting.

Thank you in advance for your support with this.

School Photographs

Just a reminder that Tempest Photography will visiting on Friday 13th October to take the annual school photographs. Every child will have their photograph taken. The photographer will be available to take group photographs with any pre-school children between 8 - 9 in the morning. Please bring them to the school hall.

I have heard that the weather is set to be lovely at the weekend – warm and sunny. Do enjoy the last of the good weather and I hope you have some time to relax and make memories with your family.

Best wishes,

Edwina McDonnell
