Dear Parents and Carers,

This Week in School

I have been out on courses for much of this week so you may have seen our new Assistant Heads, Mrs McNamara and Mrs Carpenter, in the car park with Mr Davies. Although the courses were very useful, I was very glad to get back to school to see the children and staff. At the time of writing, the children are all very excited for the school disco and movie night. They are primed to put on their party clothes and show off some of their best dance moves. It is so fantastic that these events are back after a break in having such celebrations over the last few years.

I would like to offer a very big thank you to all the parents who put their time and effort into ensuring the children can experience these fun events. The generosity of spirit shown by our parent volunteers is really to be celebrated and appreciated. Events like these, for the benefit of the children, create moments of enjoyment and memories to last a lifetime.

Mrs Crocker’s Maternity Leave

The wonderful Mrs Crocker is beginning her maternity leave early next week, and although we are encouraging her to rest up, from our conversations it seems she is still planning wow events and finishing school policies! She is such a dedicated, hard-working teacher who manages to make learning incredibly fun for the children in her class. We will certainly miss her over the coming months, but she has reassured us she will visit often, although we may fight a little over who has had the longest cuddle with her bundle of joy! In the meantime, the children of Year 1 will be in the very capable hands of Miss Roberts while she is away. She is really looking forward to the year ahead, and to working with Mrs Godfrey, Mrs Ward and Miss Parker again. I know from experience that they make a wonderful team and the children are very lucky to be in the care of such fantastic teachers.

Church Maintenance Works

A reminder that there is some maintenance work (asbestos removal) being done at the Church in the coming weeks, which will affect access to the school from the Church. Unfortunately, the contractors will close part of the Church car park during the work for safety reasons, so those parents who normally use the Church car park to cut through to the school will not be able to do so for the next 2 weeks.

Amenities/Swimming

Please can I remind all parents and carers that each year, we ask for a voluntary contribution of £10 per term per child for swimming, and £10 per term for each family for School Amenities.

The school has always traditionally asked parents and carers for an amenity contribution. The Amenities Fund allows the school to give children extra opportunities and experiences such as visiting artists, performers and sport companies. We feel it is crucial that the children continue to have these WOW moments and with the rising costs of maintaining and running the swimming pool, we would really appreciate your contribution to allow this to continue.

Payments for Swimming and Amenities can be paid online, details are as follows:

Bank Account Number: 02887152 Sort-Code: 30-98-45

Please quote ref S for Swimming or A for Amenities

Reception Intake Applications

Time to start school? If you have a child born between 1st September 2018 and 31st August 2019, then now is the time to apply for a place at our school for admission from September 2023 onwards. You must complete an application form that is available from the school admissions team at County Hall, Somerset County Council. Please ensure you apply by the closing date of 15th January 2023.
