Dear Parents and Carers,

Thank you to the many parents that have asked after Mr Davies these past few days. Our wonderful caretaker will be back on Monday and he was really touched that so many had asked after him. The children are all aware of Mr Davies’ love of biscuits and there have been a lot more in the staffroom this week with Mr Davies off work!

Plans for the Summer Term

Dear Parents,

I just wanted to update you on where the governors have got to in the process of appointing a new Headteacher. The Governing Body has met and agreed that we will advertise for a new Headteacher to start at the beginning of the Autumn term 2022. This means that we will have to have an interim plan in place for the Summer term. The plan that was agreed is as follows:

  • Edwina McDonnell will step up to Headteacher for the Summer term 2022.
  • Damian Lake will step up to Deputy Headteacher for the Summer term 2022.
  • Ellie Rolf will teach Class 5 full-time for the Summer term 2022.

Once the Headteacher appointment process has been completed the governors will update you further.

Best wishes,

Helen Mac Connell – Chair of Governors

The School Football Teams

What a week it has been at St George’s for our football teams!

Last Friday the boy’s team competed in the county finals at Strode College. I couldn’t have been more proud of the achievements and attitude of the team! They came up against some strong teams and competed brilliantly. I reminded the team at the end of the tournament on their achievements!

On Monday evening, the girls competed in the Taunton finals and qualified for the county finals! I was over the moon to receive a message from Mr C singing the praises of every member of the team! What a wonderful achievement and we look forward to another day at the county finals!

I have always been appreciative and impressed with the sport we offer at St George’s. This has been more important than ever these past months as it clearly has a positive impact on the children’s well-being! I cannot thank the St George’s staff enough in how they engage, motivate and inspire the children to play and compete in a variety of sports and to challenge themselves to be the best they can be!

I was equally delighted with the sporting attitude of both teams! Showing respect to their opponents and the officials and conducting themselves in the right way!

Congratulations to all our children! I am extremely proud of you!

Swimming

It is wonderful to see the children swimming at St George’s and on a regular basis. Mr C has asked if parents and carers can check swimming goggles to make sure they fit. Also please can children have a swimming hat for their lessons and ensure that their name is marked on it in case it is mislaid.

Sickness and Diarrhoea

Just a reminder that if your child has a sickness bug or diarrhoea it is school policy to keep them at home for 48 hours from the last episode. Please also ensure you contact the school office if your Child is going to be absent from school.

Best Wishes
